CORONOVIRUS – COVID 19 updated 23/3/2020

At 8.30pm on Monday 23 March 2020, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, issued the instruction that all British people must stay at home or risk fines and penalties.  His statement restricts the movement  of people for all but essential journeys, and stops all gatherings of more than 2 people in public.

You can read his statement here.

Given this new guidance, it is necessary and appropriate to temporarily close the Centre for thirty days, starting today March 24th 2020.  This step is being taken to comply with the new government guideline and further protect the health and well-being of the individual test takers and our staff.  We anticipate re-opening the test centre effective Monday April 27th subject to revision of these guidelines.

If you have an existing appointment for an ACCA exam you will be able to reschedule your exam from the link within your confirmation email.

If you have an existing appointment with Pearson Vue, you will receive email instructions on how to reschedule your appointment to a future date once it is safe to resume testing.  Alternatively, you can contact  your Pearson Vue team for more support on the number given on your confirmation email;  or by going to  https://www.pearsonvue.co.uk/Test-takers/Customer-service.aspx , selecting  your exam provider and following  the on-screen instructions.

Please note that if you choose to contact Pearson Vue for assistance, hold times may be extended due to the volume of individuals calling for support.  You may find the following link helpful.  https://home.pearsonvue.com/coronavirus-update

CORONOVIRUS – COVID 19 updated 18/3/2020

COVID 19 has now been declared a global pandemic and all of us have a responsibility to take measures to minimise the spread of this disease.

The Online Exams Centre here at Sefton House remains open for business, however we ask that all visitors to the Centre, including staff, heed the following advice in order to prevent the risk of infection to yourselves and others.

Exam Candidates and Other Visitors

 Before visiting the Centre

  • Do not visit the Centre if you are feeling unwell or if any of your family members or close contacts have been diagnosed, or are suspected of having COVID 19.

  • Read and follow all instructions within the Centre related to the your safety and protection from the virus.  Such instructions may be  written or verbal and dependent on the information passed to us by the Government or our Examination Provider as and when received.

  • Follow  the Government published advice on hand washing, face touching and a good standard of personal hygiene when inside the Centre.  This includes their guidance on maintaining at least a metre of persona space and physical separation  from other candidates.

  • Visit his page regularly to keep up to date with news of the effect of the virus on our operations.

Whilst at  the Centre

  • Staff will be provided with disposable gloves as a precaution against hand borne germs.

  • Disposable gloves: We are now allowing candidates to wear disposable gloves during testing at the centre.  Staff  will inspect the gloves both before and after you enter the exam, and the gloves must be disposed of in front of the invigilator to prevent any content leaving the testing room.

  • Sanitize your hands: Upon arrival at the test centre, staff will advise you to use hand sanitizer before they conduct admission steps such as asking you to sign your name on the signature pad and before entering the testing room.

  •  Face masks: The use of medical face masks is permitted. You as the candidate can bring your own mask and wear it in the testing room. But before entering the testing room, our staff needs to inspect the mask prior to your entry in to the testing room. You are kindly asked to follow the instructions of our invigilators and follow the exam security check-in procedures.

  • Hand tissue: You will be permitted to enter the test room with issues provided  they are removed from their package and displayed before check in staff.   Per the World Health Organization guidance please cover the nose and mouth in case of sneezing or cough.

Online Exams

We are mindful of the need to  keep candidates at a safe physical distance from each other and members of staff.  To this end we will apply a  limit to of the number of candidates  within all areas of the centre at any given time.  We may need to ask you to remain in your car and/or wait in reception for longer than usual in order to maintain this limit.

We will:-

  • Maintain an enhanced desk/keyboard hygiene policy

  • Endeavour to maintain the government recommended  minimum one metre separation between candidates waiting for or taking their exams

  • Provide hand wash and disposable paper towels in the  bathrooms, and hand sanitisers throughout the centre.

  • Inform to your/our examination sponsors of any candidates, visitor to the centre, or of any member of staff  who we are aware have tested positive for the virus.
